Lucy’s coloring book

Color me brightly

  • Ok… I wrote yesterdays post and somehow it did not get published, so I will have two posts today. That’s ok.

Anyway… I had a very frustrating day. I realized that I need to reorganize my Instagram accounts again because it did not feel right to post digital patterns to my old account. So, I opened a new one and will have to start the pattern challenge again. I suppose I will just publish some of them again, because I have already done one third of the challenge. Don’t know yet – I’ve had enough of brainstorming and activity for one day, I will sleep on it and see how I wake up tomorrow.

As promised, here’s the pattern I made for Spoonflower challenge:

    SFChallenge1

It feels very personal to me because this is Lola, my little baby and the whole thing is inspired by my efforts to help our local Frenchie shelter. These beautiful dogs are very fashionable and very expensive. There are a lot or irresponsible breeders and lots of horrible people who pay fortunes for puppies just to get fed up with them and throw them out. Frenchies are a difficult breed to care for and they are not for everyone. It breaks my heart to see in what state some of them end up in the shelter and to realize what some people are capable of doing to an animal. It makes me wish to move away to another planet and not to share anything with people any more.

But, I have to stay here. The least I can do is to support our dog shelter, love my Lola and do an occasional Frenchie pattern. This one is called ‘Just Best for You’.

27/100. Strawberry season has begun. Strangely, this is the first ever strawberry I carved. It was not easy to cut through the rubber to separate the leaves, but I managed. Stamp does not look pretty, but it prints well 🙂

I finished and submitted my Spoonflower piece. I will share it tomorrow. The voting starts on May 7th. I hope to get some votes, at least from my Course Group Ladies. Votes are not so important at this stage, the important thing is that I entered the challenge and I created something I really love. And it’s out there in my shop – a real fabric pattern. Small steps 🙂

So, I counted polka dots as pattern 26/100, I could not make another one, as I was busy preparing my logo. Decided to go with my own handwriting and to carve it so it’s imperfect and not all that well aligned. I think I like it.

I also decided to enter Spoonflower challenge this week, so I was working hard on preparing my pattern. Deadline is tomorrow, so not much time left.

Had a last call with my Accountability Group from pattern design course today. We actually decided to continue with meetings now the course is finished. Didn’t expect to meet such a nice group of women. I feel grateful 🙂

25/100. I was running out of ideas for patterns and just stared at my Illustrator file and then I go t this idea… It’s not much of a pattern, so I added polka dots. Of course I cannot make pattern out of this, but it looks nice as a framed art in my Society 6 shop 🙂

The weather is beautiful again. I went to pick up food at the market and then we walked. I think we will go out to the garden now to play fetch.

  • 24-100

24/100. A very quick pattern inspired by the stamp from several days ago. We woke up to rain and cold weather. I am happy it rained because it washed down all that dust which accumulated over months of dry weather. I am not so happy that it’s cold though. We managed to walk, shorter than we would on a holiday and in good weather, but I am satisfied. I also plan to do some more planning and scheduling for my surface design work. The course finished, even though I did not watch all the lessons. It did become a bit overwhelming by fifth module, because it went to the licensing and business aspects and what I need to do in order to achieve success. For that reason I need to slow down and carefully plan what I need to do in next few weeks and months, because some stuff simply needs to wait for some other things to fall in place. Anyway… Good day for brainstorming 🙂

23/100. I had to 🙂 love carving letters… And you are all awesome. Had very little time today, so this is it. Thankfully, tomorrow is holiday. Also, I am on holiday every Friday in May, because we are forced to use holidays as the employer does not want to end up with us all going on a month holiday for Christmas… Ah well…. Stay at home holiday – is there anything better? 🙂

  • 22-100

22/100. It rained. I have headache, going to lie down…

21/100. New stamp. Like the shape. Lots to do today… Looked like weather is going to spoil, but right now it’s nice and sunny. They did forecast storms for later, but that may not happen. I hope I catch a nice long walk… Or at least a short one 🙂

Ordered some fence inserts to fight against neighbor’s watering system but I am not sure it will help completely keep the water away. I hope she will fix it, but then, there is always a possibility to build a 4m tall wall 😀

I planted four tomatoes yesterday. I hope they will bear some fruit, but the real reason why I did it is to keep mosquitoes away. Our new little terrace seems to be a nice shady spot not only for us, but for all sorts of bugs too 🙂

  • 20-100

20/100. Here’s a little pattern I drew entirely on computer. It’s intentionally wobbly and it was supposed to be a unicorn, a rabbit and a bear, but as one of my IG followers said, it turned out to be donkey and a bear. So, yes, it’s a donkey 🙂

I also used my hello stamp. Obviously I was kind of lacking inspiration for a pattern with just letters, so this is what you get when lacking inspiration. I tried to re-color it because I really don’t like these colors, but it didn’t work and I ran out of time, so it’s like this.

Going to measure the fence and order that stuff to save us from mud… Happy Monday!

  • 19-100

19/100. These colors make me happy, and look, there is a sun shade on Society 6. Cool 🙂

It’s Sunday and I woke with a pain in my back, so I am not my best today. We went for a long walk and then I rested, looking for a fence cover to protect ourselves from the neighbor’s sprinklers. Everything they sell is so ugly. I wish I could have my happy cat pattern printed on fence cover… Or should I just use this sun shade?
