Art Journal, Mixed Media, Musings About Stuff, Stamp Carving, video

This week I was on holiday, so there was time for art and I did quite some. There is a challenge called #printersolstice which I am doing. It’s easy because it requires printing only one print a week and it’s already week 3, so these are my three prints:

Have I mentioned last week that I enrolled in Life Book this year? If not, I am mentioning it now 🙂 This is a warm-up piece I painted:

Obviously my word for this year are ‘gently flow’. I don’t have a good feeling about this year, probably because it started with worries and anxiety. I want to just sit quietly and be taken to the point of resolution. I know that’s impossible, so I am going to tread gently. Flow, if possible. And try to be very nice and patient with us all. This was the week where I do not solve any problems, but just get ready to act… from Monday. And that’s in a day almost. Mother is anxious about her impending surgery. Lola grew some lump in her ear. Lumps are a no-no, so the vet it is next week, instead of next month as planned. Here she is with her new scarf:

I was playing with Procreate Pocket on my phone, and did some funny drawings, here are videos:

These were fun really 🙂 I wish I had an iPad and a real Procreate. I plan to get one for my birthday. Let’s see…

I also started transforming my web site. I have a home page now with the link to this blog. I have another domain name, which I will change when it’s all finished. It’s hard because I need to learn how to do stuff and most of the time I am just guessing and trial-erring, but I am sure that I will get there eventually.

We managed to walk every day for an hour – that’s a new one, we drive somewhere and them Lola too walks, no problem. We are discovering paths in nature which are very close to our place, like 10 minutes drive no more, so that is something to really be grateful for. I had no idea we lived in such a great place. Does this sound weird? Anyway, I hope I will be able to continue with these great walks when work starts. I really hope. They make these winter days bearable. Actually, there is no real winter, the temperatures are most of the time above zero and there was snow only one day and it did not even require shovelling, so it does not count at all.

So this is it for the first full week of January 2021. Not too bad. We are still standing. Let’s gently flow…

Black Book January: Video

black book, Mandala, video
For two days I was filming the making of a mandala. It was not a very enjoyable work: as I have the tripod on my desk, it’s legs limited the movement of my book (the book being quite large and stuck between the said legs), so I had to twist and turn, even to get up in order to circle around. Consequently, it did not turn as precise as it usually does and made me quite a bit anxious, which was definitely not what I was going for. In addition, by the end of the video I accidentally deleted 3 clips, so I did not capture the whole process. I was surprised actually that the video is quite good, due to time lapse you cannot see me hesitating and my hand shaking, so I am pleased with the result. Have a look, it is less than 7 minutes long (I dislike long videos).

I stayed home again the whole day today. It’s freezing outside and I don’t feel like going anywhere. I am sick of the cold and I wish the temperature would rise above zero to melt this ice for at least a couple of days. This is making me almost depressed. Tomorrow morning I have to go to the court, I was called as a witness in some process my landlord is having with the municipality, I don’t even know what it is about. You can imagine that I am thrilled about having to go… So, I am trying to take deep breaths and say to myself that it will all be over quickly and that no introverts will be harmed in the process. It’s not really working… I am very nervous.

#carveDecember Flip Through

Stamp Carving, video

And here are all 31 stamps that I carved during the 31 days of December:

I am very happy I did not miss a single day and I did not run out of ideas 🙂
It seems that actually it is not possible to run out of ideas when you are drawing snowflakes, they are such an amazing subject, so many combinations, go with simple chapes and you cannot go wrong.

Here is also the video showing all the stamps and prints I made:

Life Book 2016: Flip Through

Art Journal, Mixed Media, video

Yesterday I bound my Life Book for 2016. This is the first time I did it – last year my papers were too large and I gave it up. Even though I promised to do all LB lessons this year, I did not keep my promise, but I think I did really well, because I skipped only a few and did not finish four of them (there is still chance for doing them, as they are in the journal just waiting for me). Anyway, I recorded a short video:

The year is coming to its end and I am slowly closing up open projects (which can be closed), cleaning my craft space, making big plans for 2017, considering which courses to take, thinking about my word for the year…

Today is a beautiful sunny day – it snowed last night just enough to make trees and paths in the park beautiful. We went for a light walk and now it’s back to editing videos and finishing some other art stuff.

Have a wonderful Thursday people!

She Thinks Positive: Video

Art Journal, Colored Pencils, She thinks positive journal, video, Watercolor

Just a quick one… This is girl number 43 in my journal. I did not post 40-42 yet, but as I recorded a video of this one, let it be her today:

Watercolor Doodle Time: Video

Art Journal, doodles, Mixed Media, video, Watercolor

Lately I’ve been obsessed with watercolor and ink doodles like this one:

I did it today, recorded it and video is now processing as I write this. I did upload to my shop on Redbubble, have a look, it’s really cool.

There is another one that I did yesterday. Here’s the video of the process. Unfortunately the painting part of the video is lost by some funny glitch in my video processing program, so you can see only the doodle part. Today’s video seems to be complete and it will be up  later today.

World Watercolor Month: Day 16

ATC, Faces, video, Watercolor

Today was my travelling day, so I am exhausted and ready for bed after sharing this with you. Yesterday I did some watercolor mixing experiment that went wrong on two ATCs and almost on the third one as well. The third turned out pretty nice after all, I made some mud, but actually I like it because it has a rusty old feeling to it and if you look closely the colors are really beautiful.

The two failures, I gessoed over and today I painted on top of the gesso. I love how gesso gives texture under the watercolor and how one can see the layer below. Gesso helped that the first layer of watercolor does not bleed through to the second. I may do this on purpose in future 🙂

I think this one might be my favourite… I am quite in love with her.

And, of course, the video:
