Lucy’s coloring book

Color me brightly

  • Week 31 of Book of Days finished:

I could have worked on the face for some time more, maybe it would look better, but I wanted to finish it today because I have other plans for this week. I quite like the look of her and maybe she deserves more attention… Well, I can always go back to her, maybe next week. I loved doing the leaves, it was so calming and meditative. The quote is missing – it was supposed to go to the left hand side over the leaves, but as I liked the leaves so much I did not feel like covering them. Maybe I will reconsider, because the quote was nice too.

    Here’s a close-up:

There is a layer of clear gesso over the background and collage, hence the texture. While it looks interesting, I did not much enjoy doing the colored pencil and marker over it and I may decide to avoid it in future, or limit it to projects where no detailed work is required on top of it. Because no precision work is possible on top of it and because it destroys my markers :).

  • Another doodle:

I used Stabilo water-based markers for the dots in the middle. I am not sure if I like them, as the dots are not really round because the marker tips are rather big, so it looks kind of weird. I am also not sure if the markers are lightfast. I assume not, because it’s not written on them and that’s not something the producer wouldn’t brag about. So… Meh…

I am still working on the spread for BOD and it’s getting there. It will be finished today, so I hope tomorrow I can show it to you. It’s looking good.

Today is the travelling day. I am waiting for the fog to lift to go for a run. It’s very cold, dump and sad outside, but it looks like it is going to be another sunny day. Good for driving, if one has to.

    Have a beautiful Sunday!

  • It’s a nice sunny Saturday. Almost hard to believe that there was a blue sky above those murky clouds we had during the whole week. This means that I will have to do my gardening today, no excuse. I don’t feel like going out, because even though it’s sunny, it’s very cold, so it means my hands will freeze and I am so not up to it. But things have to be done in order to preserve my vegetables from freezing, so I will do them.

And here’s another watercolor ink doodle I did during the past week:

Today I will also be working on another spread in Book of Days. If I finish it today it will be the fourth BOD spread in one week. Well done with catching up on this one, I think. I skipped the Life Book lesson this week – it was some calligraphy practice that I really did not care about, so it made more time for other stuff. Good week.

    Have a wonderful weekend people!

  • I did this one a couple days ago:

I used blue, turquoise and sap green watercolors and ink markers.

Today I am working on Book of Days again. It’s been raining for 48 hours, so no running on two mornings. Yesterday I went for a walk in the afternoon, in the rain, because I felt like going crazy closed in the house for more than 24 hours. Today, I think, it’s the movies again. According to the forecast, there should be no rain tomorrow, so I may manage some long delayed garden work and maybe even a run in the morning. I really like autumn colors, but that’s about all I like about autumn. Rain is just awful, cold is horrible, and darkness is depressing. But no point in complaining, right? Plus, it’s Friday today! YAY!

  • It’s been raining since last night. I felt a start of a migraine when I woke up, took the pills and now seem to be more or less fine. Here is just a quick update from She Thinks Positive Journal:

    wp-1476954408914.jpg

These are the girls 28 and 29. These pages were gessoed before and I did not want to use my luminance pencils on them, so I skipped them and did the next two pages first and then went back to these two. Not so important though 🙂

I like the hair on the right one. Actually, not much of a hair, but I like the… Stuff… I think I will do more of this type. I quite suffered with the shading on her face, somehow I couldn’t get the chin part right I almost gave up and gessoed over, but I managed to pull it together and make her presentable.

  • Ok, I am in a Book of Days mood this week. I finished Week 38 yesterday:

    wp-1476793776705.jpg

Used acrylics and hot glue gun stencil for background, star stencils and heart mask (which I cut from paper) in the foreground. I colored the stars with Sakura Glaze pen in yellow, added black lines with Edding black paint marker and Uni-Ball Eye black pen, and white details with Edding white paint marker and Rotring 0.5 pen with acrylic ink.

It was quick and easy. I think I will try to do one more today! Have a good Wednesday you all!

  • Finally, I felt inspired to dive into Book of Days. I missed most of the course, but that’s ok. I will catch up eventually, I think 🙂

    wp-1476782177989.jpg

This is Week 40. Done with acrylics, sakura glaze pen in black, Faber Castell Pitt markers in red and yellow, Edding paint marker in black and white acrylic ink in my Rotring 0.5 pen. The little bubbles in the leaves is stencil by Tim Holtz and the big bubbles around is stencil by me 🙂

I really enjoyed this and I can see that there are more lessons of this type in BOD, so off I go to start another one! Have a nice Tuesday!

  • One more girl in my ‘She Thinks Positive’ Journal. She is 30 out of 120, but I did skip two pages which were gessoed before and I did not want to use colored pencils on them, so the numbering is a bit screwed up.

    wp-1476690799045.jpg

Done with watercolor and colored pencils. I finished her yesterday.

It’s Monday again and my internet is not working since yesterday. I called the provider last night and they could  not do anything remotely, so today they should come and do whatever they need to do here. I am connected through my mobile data plan, which is not bad at all, but no Netflix and no YouTube and no Vimeo… BAH! How used I am to having internet all the time! I felt positively lost last night without the ability to watch Netflix. I had to make a conscious effort to implement ‘disaster recovery plan’ and find a movie on the TV. Isn’t it weird?! Tonight I will go out to the movies, just in case :). LOL! Joking! I go to the movies every second Monday, because it’s ‘two for one’ day. But I do hope they will fix the internet during the day… Sigh…!

  • Another quick one because I am travelling today and have to start packing.

I’ve been impressed by autumnal colors obviously. They are so amazing!

I’ve been working on other pieces too this morning, some watercolor doodles and faces. But more about those next week. Enjoy your Sunday, nice people!

  • Just a quick one for today:

It’s the one I mentioned yesterday. I started it with crappy pencils and finished with the Luminance.

I am off to start a new one and then go to the organic market and have all the usual Saturday fun. Have a happy Saturday!
